We all know about the fantastic landmarks and sites in Minnesota. It’s a subtle paradise bustling with hidden gems that don’t get the attention they deserve. From the breathtaking views to relaxing spas, there are dozens of places in Minnesota that will completely take your breath away! In this blog post, we’re going to share eleven of these stunning destinations you should visit if you haven’t already. You’ll be surprised at how much beauty lies within the Gopher State’s borders.

1. Devil’s Kettle

Just the name alone is enough to send chills down your spine. But doesn’t it make you curious? Hidden deep in Judge C. R. Magney State Park, the Devil’s Kettle is a waterfall divided into two. One side falls into Lake Superior, and the other drops further and flows out via Logan Creek just north of Grand Marais. No one knows where this half goes or what lies at its end, but you can still enjoy the scenic view of the falls from up above!

2. Museum of Quackery and Medical Frauds

There’s little to no reason for museums to fall under the radar, but this one certainly does. The Museum of Quackery and Medical Frauds focuses on the history behind medical scams, bizarre inventions, and other sorts of pseudoscience from Minnesota’s past. One particular exhibit that never fails to capture interest is the breast enhancer called Allure Bust Developer. It works by putting the cups on where they should be and using a foot-pump, the operator creates a vacuum in the cups, resulting in larger breasts (they say).

3. Sidewalk Harp

It’s not often you find an item in a museum that you can actually interact with, but there is one outside the Be the Match building, Sidewalk Harp. The brilliance of this 40-ft structure that stretches out like a long harp can’t be matched anywhere. To make it even more interesting, this massive instrument produces different musical tones when you wave your hands beneath the LED lights installed. Such a magical moment, for sure!

4. Normandale Japanese Garden

Nestled near Bloomington’s Normandale Community College, the Normandale Japanese Garden isn’t always mentioned anywhere on the web. However, it’s an eye candy for any nature lover out there. The garden consists of traditional elements prevalent in Japan, such as the koi pond and bonsai trees. If you’re looking for something tranquil to do with your loved ones or just want an escape from city life, this place offers it all.

5. Darwin Twine Ball

This is one of the weirdest attractions you can find in Minnesota. Located on a farm near Darwin, MN (hence the name), this massive ball made entirely out of twine was created from scraps by Francis A. Johnson! It weighs around 18,000 pounds and measures at least 44 feet in circumference. Francis has never revealed the secrets to making such an attraction or if there’s a treasure in the center of the ball. However, it sure is a unique attraction that’s worth a visit.

6. Hidden Falls Regional Park

In a world filled with hidden gems, it’s easy to miss the smaller ones. Take Hidden Falls Regional Park, for example! Concealed in St. Paul, this small park features a dazzling waterfall that cascades down into a man-made lake below. It’s quite the eye-catcher with the beautifully molded landscape, peaceful ambiance, and thick canopy of green.

7. Kamp Dels

What’s more fun than a summer camp and waterpark blended together? How about a Viking-style fort, a vast pool, and winding water slides? That said, Kamp Dels in Waterville looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. Everything here is built to impress the adults and energize the kids. Make sure to take your fam to this wonderful amusement park during the weekend.

8. The Herbivorous Butcher

Alright. Enough with the parks and campsites. It’s time to talk about food. Are you constantly craving vegan food? Well, you’re in luck. The Herbivorous Butcher is a vegan butcher diner where everything they serve comes at no expense of animal life! They make dried pasta and meat alternatives like beef jerky to add flavor without the cruelty of slaughtering other creatures. Oh, and their breadsticks are not only pretty but also taste amazing paired with the epic dipping sauce!

9. Grand Portage Stage Forest

Ready for some adventure? The Grand Portage Forest is a massive thicket situated northwest of Lake Superior. How come this magnificent green space landed this list of hidden gems? Well, people only often appreciate Grand Portage after coming across it. Hike a few miles of well-maintained trails and boardwalk to reach the peak of your journey – the High Falls, a spectacular 120-ft drop of pure state water. This area also has historical significance since Native Americans used this passage as one of their major trade routes during centuries past!

10. Split Rock Lighthouse

It’s rare for scenic cliff views to fall out of public sight, but this one does. The Split Rock Lighthouse is a 19th-century lighthouse that sits atop the high rocks on the northern shore of Lake Superior. The place has just been recently restored to its former glory after falling into disrepair due to weather damage from storms over time. You can climb up to forty steps for incredible views from the top. It’s definitely an experience to remember and a sight to behold.

Who could forget the man, the myth, and the legend that is Paul Bunyan? Also, don’t forget his trusty blue ox, Babe. The world’s largest lumberjack has statues dedicatedly to him and Babe in Bemidji. Although these structures are pretty straightforward in design, it’s the duo’s stories attract people from all corners to take unforgettable photos.
